Past Life Regression

Many people are interested in trying to discover their past lives through past life regression making use of hypnosis. In some cases the apparent past life may be generated from the unconscious mind which uses past memories and information accumulated over the years plus its own creativity to generate the "life". However, in other cases there is evidence to suggest that people may indeed access their past lives through past life regression.

Sometimes people just wish to explore past lives out of curiosity or for purposes of personal research. Some wish to explore past lives hoping for some insight into present life issues or to seek insights into the pattern of their spiritual development.

Even if the "past life" is generated by the unconscious mind, the images, feelings and general content of the "past life" may symbolise issues and concerns which pertain to the person's present life and spiritual development and may be usefully explored through hypnotherapy to the person's potential benefit.

Therefore, on the above understanding, we provide past life regression sessions at Tranquil Spirit. If you wish, you can come for a free Initial Consultation of 30 mins to meet me, to discuss what you want to achieve and what is involved in past life regression. The actual Past Life Regression Session lasts 2 hours approx and costs Ł60. (This generally includes an audio tape of the session, but as there is always the potential for technical problems with recordings we cannot guarantee this ). This allows time at the beginning of the session for a detailed discussion of your aims, a detailed explanation of the method and process involved and what to expect. At the end of the period of hypnosis there will be an in depth discussion of the experiences which you have had and the associated thoughts and feelings exploring their significance and implications. Both the initial preparation and the review and discussion of your experiences during your past life or lives are a very important part of the process.

There are a number of alternative approaches to regressing people back to past lives. For example some will have you imagine yourself to be out of your physical body. Others will take you back to a specific year or time period. (Personally I do not feel that such specific suggestions ie: a specified date is a good idea. I think the the less specific the suggestion the more likely that we may get valid results.) Generally the process I use will involve you first regressing back to a couple of happy experiences from your present life, prior to asking you to go back to a time before your birth into your present life. If you would prefer one of the alternative approaches we can discuss this.

People may find themselves living a "life" as a person of a different age, gender or race and living in a different country or culture. Events experienced during past life regression can be very vivid and dramatic and can frequently evoke strong feelings/emotions. My role as a hypnotherapist is in part to manage this process and to "move" you on in the event of an episode becoming unduly distressing. As an alternative to this I may ask you to view such events as a bystander in order to avoid the the intensity of negative emotions. On the other side of the coin of course there will also be events and experiences which are happy ones.

Because of the importance of managing the process and safeguarding your comfort and security I do not do Group Past life Regression Sessions. People do sometimes come to me as a group but I have done an individual session for each person. Of course if all parties are in mutual agreement they may sit in on each other's session if they wish. They would not however be able to take part in any questioning while an individual is under hypnosis.

The vast majority of people do experience a "past life" while under hypnosis. However, for a variety of reasons, a small minority of people may not experience a "life" on a particular occasion. If this occurs I charge a reduced fee of Ł45.

If everything goes smoothly we may have the opportunity to explore two past lives during the session. More could be possible but there is a balance to be struck between exploring a particular life in more detail or opting for a more superficial exploration of a greater number of lives.

Unfortunately, while the majority of people who book Past Life Regression Sessions do honour the booking, I have had a number of people who have failed to attend. This is probably because sometimes a booking is made out of interest on a particular day but the initial enthusiasm wanes. In order to minimise inconvenience to both myself and other clients, (who have sometimes been unnecessarily delayed from seeing me), I have had to introduce a non-refundable booking deposit of Ł10 for Past Life Regressions. This is deductible from the total cost of the session. The booking deposit should be forwarded to me at the address below once the date and time of the session has been arranged. Cheques / Postal Orders should be made payable to myself, Paul McGlone.

Here are some examples of past lives recently experienced through past life regression. Various people experienced lives as:

an affluent male bank worker (person undergoing regression was female) living in New York in the 1930's.
a male labourer living with his wife and family in a small cottage in England around 1710.
a male (person undergoing regression was female) cave dweller living by hunting in early historical times.
a daughter whose mother was a cook in a big country house possibly near Nottingham around 1840.
a female governess to a young boy in the early 1800's.
a young boy (person undergoing regression was female) living in London as the son of a cobbler.

Past Life Therapy

For most problems/issues which people experience the origin/cause can found in the present life time. Even if it proves difficult to identify a clear cause/origin it can sometimes be effective to focus upon how the problem is manifesting itself in thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Indeed, sometimes achieving an understanding of the causes of a problem, while being cathartic in the short term, bringing about a release of emotions, does not always bring about a lasting resolution. At times this may be because the "problem" has developed an independent "life of its own" having become ingrained in the thoughts and emotions of the person in habitual patterns of thinking and behaviour. Addressing the "first cause" is no longer the full solution. I would always advise people to focus on the present life in the first instance.

However, in a minority of cases there both seems to be neither a clear first cause of a problem nor do the symptoms respond to traditional methods. In such a situation it may be beneficial to use Past Life Therapy. This approach was pioneered by Dr Brian Weiss and others. In many ways he could be described as "stumbling" upon the technique and its benefits. A client's problems had proven unresponsive to traditional therapeutic methods and a "first cause" of her problems could not be found. One day the client spontaneously regressed to a "past life". The experiences which she recounted from the "past life" provided a potential origin of her fears and anxieties. The understanding and resolution which followed brought about a substantial and continuing lessening of her symptoms and improvement in her life.

At some point during hypnotherapy sessions if it is appropriate and the client is in agreement it may be possible to use this approach to complement other approaches.

If a client believes that it would be beneficial to adopt Past Life Therapy as the primary approach then this is possible. It will however be necessary to undertake a full assessment first for the usual assessment fee of Ł40. Each Past Life Therapy session of 1 hour would then cost Ł40.
