Public Demonstration of Trance Mediumship at Ellesmere Port
We are including on this page an outline example of a Public Demonstration of Trance Mediumship which was given for Wirral Paranormal Investigations at Overpool Community Centre in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, in March 2002.
Over 30 people attended the demonstration. We were heartened by the warm welcome which we received and the way in which people freely engaged in discussion with members of the Spirit Group which greatly contributed to the success and enjoyment of the night.
Our daughter, Emma, accompanied us on the trance demonstration and operated the video camera to record the event. We have included below some stills from the video film.
Nancy Foster, Co-ordinator of WPI, begins the night by introducing us to the meeting, and explaining the format for the evening.
Paul begins by explaining that he has no control over the volume of the voices and that Isleen's voice in particular would be low if she came through. Checking out if any members of the audience were hard of hearing produced the classic response of "Pardon?"
Paul gaving some background information on the way he and Eileen had worked for Trance development and describing some of their experiences. He then went on to explain the process of spirit communication and trance control giving the audience an indication of what to expect. People were encouraged to ask questions and respond to the spirits, and to follow Eileen's guidance.
Having asked people to try not to make any unnecessary loud noises and checked that all mobile phones were off, the lights were dimmed slightly and Paul commences to go into trance.
Hai came through and discussed a wide range of subjects with members of the audience. He answered questions about what to expect when we pass over and who would meet us. He described the beauty and vastness of the spirit realms and the forms which people took. He discussed the roles of Spirit Guides and Angels and the processes of spirit communication. He also discussed the purpose of our earthly life and the nature of Ultimate Reality.
However it wasn't all serious. Hai's sense of humour and fun came through also. He told everyone to be sure to tell him their names as the spirits had to make dossiers on everyone and without names they couldn't make the dossiers. When the time came for a break he said they would have a cup of tea as well and that Davia (the spirit "Stage Manager") would need four spoons of sugar as he had a sweet tooth.
After a chat with people over a refreshing cup of tea Nancy opens proceedings for the second half of the evening.
Hai discussed people's concern about the future of the earth, awareness of past lives, spiritual development, re-incarnation and whether our lives were mapped out before we come to the earth. Some people asked if Atlantis had really existed. Hai indicated that it had, but that we should not hanker after the civilisations of the past. In spite of the difficulties, if we could blend spiritual progress with the developments in our sciences and technologies there could be great hope, great possibilities for the future.
Thomas then came through. Although he is not a member of the Pheonix Group he is a fairly regular visitor. He lived his last life as a slave on a cotton plantation near Jacksonville, Alabama. He discussed his life and the love and support which people gave each other. People asked him about his views on religion. He said that his religion had been a great comfort to him, but commented upon the way people allow their own egos to distort their religions and cause them to do harm.
Thomas briefly talked about different realms in the Spirit Land and how spirits reached out in love to those in the "lower realms". He urged people to keep their minds open and not allow them to become fixed as this could cause difficulties, both for ourselves and others. He finished by joking that he had been lucky to be picked by Davia to make an appearance that night.
The last visitor of the evening was WB, the scientist of the Spirit Group. WB spoke about his role in the Spirit Group and the relationship between the earth and spirit planes. He confirmed that spirits could inspire scientists, but that the scientists still had to do the harder part of the work. He urged us to use our discoveries with caution and moderation to ensure that they were of benefit and would not do harm.
WB also urged us to have open minds and not have pre-conceptions; to "push at the gate" which may open to reveal new discoveries. WB ended by wishing everyone a "good and untroubled sleep" and "our blessing for you and your planet".
Paul then answered questions about the process of trance mediumship and described some of his experiences. The evening ended with Eileen asking everyone to send out healing energies to both people in need and the earth.
Eileen, Paul and Emma would like to thank the members of WPI for their warm reception and their participation in the demonstration. This greatly contributed to making the evening an enjoyable event and we left feeling that we had made some new friends.
